My vision.
The big picture thinking is to act as a real catalyst for change and to ensure community voices, not just those who shout loudest, are heard and, yes, really listened to.
To see communities thrive and grow at a pace that is acceptable to them and not be led by 'fad' political decisions that are short-term finance (spending reviews) led.
I want real 'empowerment', ' choices', and real 'involvement'. I want to see real 'partnerships' working across communities.
My why.
"I am driven by the injustice and inequality I see all around me and looking to overcome the barriers that have been ever present throughout my life."
I chose to work in and with organisations that have a moral and social purpose to them.
I’ve spent the last 30+ years working in communities across the UK and have now added Health & Wellbeing Coaching to my extensive portfolio of experience.
I have worked tirelessly over the last 30-40 years, working to make a real and lasting difference within local communities.
I grew up in the Thatcher years, where poverty and poor housing for the working class was rife, racism was ever present, and I was proud to be a small part of the 'Two Tone' Movement, which grew out of my home city.
I have always challenged racism and inequality – it might not have made me popular. Still, once I commit to a cause, to fighting poverty, inequality and injustice, I stick with it and work to overcome these injustices.
My work with a variety of organisations including Power to Change and the Powering Up Programme has continued to develop my personal why and that is to continue to inspire others to be the change they want to see. I have added Health Coaching to my why as like many others I wanted to age well especially after “Burn Out” in 2019 - Health is my Wealth.
I want to demonstrate to people and community businesses that they can do it, it isn't always easy, but anything worthwhile is worth fighting for.
I am passionate about…
I have a passion for politics but became very disillusioned with the party political system but now use my connections for UKIHCA Health Coaches to thrive and grow.
I love personal development and have spent the last 10 years on my own personal self-development journey - hence why I enjoy mentoring and sharing the knowledge gained and why I undertook a Health Coaching Diploma in my 60’s. Never too old to learn
